A Change of Heart
By Brittany Mishra
“Never will I marry,”
“Never my finger will wear a wedding ring.”
Shattered past the days
And nights of recovery.
And through tears of pain and misery
A seed grew within her
And with it she opened to the world
Ran full force and embraced it.
She reached inside her heart
And reversed the cogs and mechanics.
She tuned her heart to a different pitch
And then walked into the world
Vulnerable and naked.
And together they healed and mended.
They created a roadmap of futures.
And now they sleep side by side
Content and full of their life.
