Poem: Tulips #the100dayproject Day 33...67 more to go

Today's prompt was to write a poem about a painter. Georgia O'Keeffe has been on my mind ever since my fellow poet Kathy shared multiple poems she wrote about Georgia and her paintings, I decided to do the same today. #the100dayproject

Georgia O’Keeffe: Tulips

She created many lips
some of petals
others of mountains,
lips that kiss and join
in a desert of colors.

The chalice
formed by two
objects that kiss
at one point
like two lips

or how petals
open wide in awe
of the sun,
but they close tight
in disappointment

when night settles
into the ground.
Tulips know dark from light
negative to positive.
Like magnets, they move

to what attracts them,
just as my lips always
find your lips,
and when we kiss,
together we are two lips.
